This happens every night for 1minute and as a result kicks off our brother airport HL L2356WD meaning to use the printer we have to reconnect via the WPS setup button each day to use it.I haven't done a firmware upgrade on the Huawai as a little nervous but has anyone encountered this drop out or should I bite the bullet and upgrade the firmware.

Hi allAnyone using a RT-AC3200 on a Spark 200/20 plan, currently I am using a RT-N66U with tomato and finding that I cannot get 200/20 only 160/20. I suspect that this is due to the Tomato firmware as the Spark supplied Hauwei seems to work at 200/20 just fine. Can anyone who is using an AC3200 tell me if they are getting 200/20 on it please.

Hilast week Dad got a call from spark rep.. (sounded asian not kiwi)they said they send a tech at 11am today to look at house setupand how can install before deciding since the house is new and hasUTP and patch panel built in.12:30pm no call no email or show of alleged tech LOLanyhow.. Im just wondering as telecoms modems/router is basicdoes the new digital phones act like any other network device and connect to one of the 4 lan ports on the back and connect to a phone server on a port?or is there a special UNIT that connects to the fiber end unit that has 4 ports on it as well.and how many phones do they supply as I doubt can keep using the old phonesunless theres an adapter to allow analogue radio phones to connect to digital phone base?

New Fibre Connection Speed

Hi all,Just asking a question for my brother in Auckland. He has recently signed up for the $119.00 Fibre plan (200MBit) Currently getting around 75Mbit from the new spark test server. So my question is what sort of time frame does it take for a line to settle in before a true indication is available. He is situated probably 600-700 mtrs from the cabinet down the street so distance shouldn't be an issue for him.Regards ... Dean

Currently I have landline and broadband with Spark. I am thinking about porting the landline number to 2talk.What will happen after I ported my number to 2talk? Will I:(i) get a new landline number for my Spark landline, or(ii) lose my landline and broadband (VDSL) connection? Will Spark charge me some fee if/when they give me a new landline number? Thanks!

Netflix US with Spark & Unotelly issue

Hi ppl,I'm using Netflix US via Unotelly over a Spark VDSL connection (via a Cabinet in Wainuiomata),It seems to struggle getting above 480p, sometimes will reach 720p but not for very long and will even drop to a lower qual for a while.I'm watching it using a 2012 ver Sony Home theater, have tested it using the netflix app in our Samsung TV with the same result.Router is a Spark supplied Huawei HG630b, bridged into an Apple Airport Extreme, connected via ethernet.Speed wise I'm connected around 38mb down, 15mb up (capped at 10), on a speed test I max out around 35mb on both ethernet and wireless (using wireless AC).Our friends across the road are using a similar setup but are on ADSL2+ with Spark, using unblock-us and don't seem to have any qual issues.Would the zip code I've told netflix I'm at have anything to do with the server I am streaming off? any other ideas? Thanks

Data upgrade

Hi all (specifically people from Spark). On Saturday evening I requested an upgrade on my naked fibre plan from 150Gb to unlimited. The online portal said the change might take up to 48 hours to take affect but it also said it may happen over night.I just chatted with Spark via the chat service on the website and was told it takes up to a week to change as a tech needs to be involved. Is this correct? The person chatting with me offered me a months credit which is great but a week seems to be an awfully long time for something that (to me) seems like it should just be as simply as pressing a button on my profile.FYI - I hit my data cap last night (damn netflix!) and I'm now being throttled (per my request). Thanks all.

NO MORE SPARK !!!!

I have sign-up a VDSL and one of the Technician came to my house and one of the technician guy went into my house to where my current router was, after 3 mins, he went outside to demarc and said you need to find someone to wire to the CAT5 cable and then he leave my place. Total time on the site was less than 10mins.

What was that? What kind of service is that?

Thats from the spark website

'Is it easy to install VDSL and how much does it cost? It's super easy! When you order VDSL you can let us know the date and time you'd like to have it connected. It will require a technician to visit your property to install a master splitter and new master jack point in your home. Don't worry - it may sound complicated but it's not and should only take 1-2 hours. You'll need to be at home during this time to make sure you're happy with what's going on. We have a range of VDSL plans and when you sign up to a 12 month contract standard installation and a top-spec modem is free too."

Should only take 1-2 hours?????? How become it took me less than 10 mins and nothing being done asking me to find a local technician? So who was the one who came into my property? He is not a technician I am calling Spark now, the waiting time for me is an hour great !!!!!

Chorus ONT not passing DHCP requests

Hi All, Speaking today with Spark IP Config team setting up a new GWS Lite connection to our site. Had some extra static routes setup to connect back into the rest of our WAN. Could get connection to the internet directly ok however couldnt get connection to our internal network. Spark guy advised that the most recent ONT's supplied by Chorus have a fault where they are not passing on DHCP requests correctly (our servers are all off site). Apparently this is a nationwide issue. Has anyone else come across this issue and if so any idea when it will be fixed? Cheers in advance.

Constant infuriating stalling of ADSL connection.

This is driving me insane. Netcomm NF8AC, restored to factory default settings yesterday. Constantly stops and starts, connected with iPhones and Mac machines. LAN traffic works fine, only Internet traffic is affected. Have tried changing DNS servers etc, seems to work for a while then stops. I've noticed this in the logs from tonight, any ideas?

Thanks.

This is happening every few minutes as per the screenshot below.

Oh here's one bizarre thing. I can log (VNC) in to my media machine via 4G connection, using Screens Connect. But then I remotely open Safari on the machine, it often cannot load webpages. I don't understand at all!

Cheers,

Joseph

New Spark UFB connection

I have got a customer that is looking at moving over to UFB now its available in the street. The customer has a fairly new pabx(couple years old) and is currently running 3 analog lines through it.Spark has informed him:Fibre Landline utilizes VoIP (voice over IP) technology where voice is packetized and terminated on the Analogue Telephony Adaptor (ATA) on the ONT.These 2 analogue terminals allow most equipment to be plugged directly in ONT, like a customer provided phone . The ONT can also be connected to existing jack points(Integrated wiring) to run analogue devices like EFT-POS, set-top boxes, and monitored alarms. The ONT however from cannot be connected directly to PABX like other devices. This seems to me to be a bit ridiculous that every SME(almost every company i deal with) that doesn't have SIP capable PABX has to upgrade!!Can somebody please confirm this is correct and the only option for this customer is to by sip trunk card for the pabxThanksDavid

IPSEC Tunnel problem - Spark ADSL/Cisco Router/Username?

for some reason this morning our IPsec VPN tunnels running on cisco routers are playing up..did have a CSR tell me the other day that all customer supplied routers needed to have a the generic user@xtrabb.co.nz ppp login configured.would this be hindering our tunnels at all? we seems to have internet access but no vpn or weird ike errors.each router has always had its own ppp login which had out static ips tied to it - is this no longer the case?

Upgrading from VDSL 150G to Unlimited - reassurance needed.

$

Hi,

I often end a billing period with around 140GB of traffic but streaming videos and YouTube will eventually push us over the 150GB cap.

My current info -

- VDSL 150GB plan with free static IP (which I use)

- Speeds are 8Mbit/40Mbit

- Fibre is not available until after June 2016

- No noticeable slow down at peak times

- Overall I'm very happy with the service provided by Spark

I've been trying to get my head around the pro's and con's of upgrading my plan.

The first thing to do was to read through many threads and calling the Spark help desk.

I understand from the sticky thread that there is no shaping currently on Spark so I'm happy with that.

The person I spoke to at the help desk said -

1/ The 500G fixed plan has been withdrawn so unlimited was my only choice

2/ Once upgraded to unlimited, I cannot go back to the 150GB plan

3/ The cost to upgrade from fixed to unlimited (with static IP) would be $6/month ($109 to $115) - seemed very reasonable!

4/ The unlimited plan has a traffic management policy but it is independent and different to the fixed plan traffic management policy.

This is how (I think) she explained the traffic management policy to me-

Customers on fixed data plans are in one pool and customers on unlimited plans are in another pool. In times of peak network load (in my area) customers with unlimited plan pools will be slowed down to insure customers in fixed data plan pools are not adversely affected. If network loads continue to increase eventually all pools will be slowed down proportionately.

That would seem to go along with what my neighbour said as I haven't noticed any slow down during peak times but my neighbour (on unlimited plan) has noticed during the school holidays their internet is noticeably slower.

I suppose I just need some reassurance from the Spark experts that what I was told is correct, then I can make a decision.

Your kind help is greatly appreciated.
