Spark Rural 4G DNS error
I have a problem with my internet only working if i specify the DNS servers in the connection type properties (ip4), on three different computers connecting though wireless and ethernet.when i talk to the help desk only some of them know what DNS means and all i do is go around in circles to fix this problem, hence waiting for my third modem now (and after that i guess a third sim card).Has anyone got any ideas on how i can talk to someone with real skills and not reading from a screen to fix this problem.I guess i have spent 10-12 hours on the phone over the last month and am sick of wasting my time, every time i call we start agin and m sick of it.I see this as a real failing of spark and most likely other companies faults service I would just swap providers but vodafone only offer 200 Gig a month while i have 240 Gig with spark, but i guess if i'm forced into it i will have to swap.also if you have any ideas i can try at home to resole it too thanksChris

weird advice: about unlimited data on broadband, and chromecast with mobile
Got a call from a friend who is not very technical, and I don't understand what she's been told by Spark. She's had an issue with going over a broadband monthly data cap (on copper). Mostly Netflix on her TV with a chromecast. So, she asked to move to an unlimited plan, and was told sorry, your router can't do unlimited. What? Can anyone explain how that might be so?So, they sold her an unlimited mobile plan for her phone; no tethering allowed, but she "can do Netflix by mirroring from her phone". What? Can anyone explain how she could mirror to the chromecast while using mobile internet? The broadband connection is still running, for other uses. Now, in principle, the wifi router could be disconnected from the internet, and the android phone set (via developer options) to keep the mobile connection going while on wifi, and so serve internet to the chromecast, but I'm very sceptical about that. Or does the Netflix app have some magic she hasn't found; if the phone is on the wifi, mobile data is not used, and if not, the cast button is not there.

Spark VDSL High Latency
Since Tuesday I've been getting unusually high latency when connecting to Australian based servers in particular Sydney. Speeds have been fine but instead of 20-40ms latency I've been experiencing 110-150ms across multiple services namely Discord, WoW, PoE which all use servers located in Sydney.I've ran traceroutes to certain Sydney servers and I'm getting a few 100+ ms hops instead of the expected 20-40ms. I'm assuming it's bad routing but not sure there's anything I can do from my end - tried contacting spark but they only did basic troubleshooting and checked the line speeds

FREE Wi-Fi Update Pas-Code
Does anyone know what the Spark Line Number is? I need to update the coder so I can use free wifi. This is Spark's instruction: If you have a Naked broadband plan, this is the line number which can be found on your bill alongside your broadband plan (starting with "08" for most customers, or "016" if you have Fibre Broadband, or "027" if you have Wireless Broadband). I have my account and can't find the line number. Where (or what) is it?

Telnet into a Spark HG630b router
I have recently become aware that my supplied Spark router (HG630b that we all know, and probably hate) has telnet enabled. However, the default login credentials (admin:admin) do not work leading me to believe that they have been altered by the ISP. After looking around these forums, I have been unable to find login credentials specific to Spark (however there is one for Vodafone). Would anyone happen to know these login credentials? Thank you.

Spark Fibre 100 and Huawei HG659b: Unstable Internet connection
Hi there, I have Spark Fibre connection here at my work place with HG659b modem. WiFi connection is working fine but it's so inconsistent that there's only number of devices that able to connect to the 'actual internet connection' So pretty much all the devices (mobile phones, PCs) are able to see the WiFi and connect into it but not getting the actual internet connection. e.g I have 10 devices and all of this able to see and connect to the WiFi, but only 6 out of 10 will be connected to the internet connection. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Spark, Fibre, medic alarms, ConnectID on ONT voice ports
Hi, quick question regarding the serviceability of classic Medic alarms and Alarm (ConnectID) services via the voice services provided by the Chorus ONT with Spark as ISP, do they work.I understand Chorus provide these services as G.711 A-law, so technically speaking "should" pass all primitive modem connections, but can someone confirm these work or not.CheersCyril

Spark hosted exchange
Spark hosted exchangehttps://apps.sparkdigital.co.nz/apps/56398/microsoft-exchange-online#!editionsAnyone here using it ?Im guessing its just Spark re-selling MS's service ?https://products.office.com/en-nz/exchange/exchange-onlineI have someone who wants to move their domain email to a hosted exchange service, just so Out of Office works as it should & phones & PC will sync emails properly (sent & received) & sync cal etc. (they are on pop3 at the moment)Since everything they have is with Spark: ph, internet, bus email, domain hosting, using Spark for Exchange email would make things easier Should be able to arrange it all via a phone call to Spark, & spark will change the mx records , add autodiscover DNS records etc ?Rather than going to MS 365(or OneNet exch) & trying organise domain record change & organizing changeover etcEdit : I see Spark also sell 365 business packages . That may help with OneDrive integrationhttps://apps.sparkdigital.co.nz/apps/50738?restoreSearch=true#!overview

Spark Fibre recently installed but not plan speeds
Hi GuysI had Fibre installed 2 days ago and are with Spark on their Fibre Max Plan. Installation went smooth but unfortunately I could not run a speed test before the Chorus guys left. Upon running a test I was only getting 180 mbps down 140mbps up (would be expecting more on Max Plan). All tests were run using CAT6 directly from router to PC. I call Spark and they tell me to wait a day as it is still showing our plan as VDSL. After Checking this morning its still the same speeds. I contact Spark again and got passed around a few departments until a agent mentions our line was Provisioned for the Max plan and should be functioning as per that. They mentioned that Chorus may not have setup the ONT correctly ( would this be true?). They seemed to not spend much time on this. A couple taps on their Ipad and they said it was done.I'm currently using the Fritz Box 7390 OS 06.83. Settings are as follows:ONT Connected to LAN 1 on the Box- Home Network - Network Settings - LAN Settings - All set to Power Mode 1gbit- Internet - Account Information: Provider Spark (Connection Via) - Connection to an external Modem or Router (Operating Mode) - Establish Own Connection to the Internet (Account Info) - user@spark etc (Conection Settings) - Up/Down Stream set to 999999 - Internet Connection - Maintain Permanently -VLAN - VLAN-ID 10Any help much appreciated.

Spark chat help error.
My Mother in Law has an issue with her Hotmail and she thought it may have been Spark related, so she chatted to their help desk online. They suggest she contact [REMOVED SCAM SITE LINK]She even has the chat log that Spark sent her!She did this and was told by an Indian person that she had a Virus and he would remove it for $149. She told him she would think about it and he abused her and hung up. I called the 09 number on this website and gave the guy with an Indian accent, a total BS story with a BS Hotmail account, it was so damn random and obscure, that I doubt it belonged to anybody. He said he could see my account and then told me my Laptop was full of Viruses and spyware. I don't own a laptop lol.He said for $149 he could fix it for me straight away. He then gave me a website to log into so he could fix it. Needless to say, I didn't log in and hung up on him. What are the chances that Spark has a bad apple on their chat board and is working with these guys and could that person be traced via the chat log?

Frequent disconnects and low internet speeds across all devices
Hi guys, for the past few weeks i've been experiencing frequent internet disconnects and low speeds (very frustrating). I've only managed to fix it for a couple of days by resetting the modem, but now these issues came back. I was wondering if it could be my modem acting up, because the line status seems a bit weird to me. Could someone help me understand what these numbers all mean? All i know is that Upstream line attenuation should be low and Upstream noise safety coefficient should be high.

Spark Internet in Marton
Hi and apologies if this issue has already been addressed. We have recently moved to Marton and at the time we had Vodafone rural broadband (it was the cheapest around and we just came over from Oz). We have switched to Spark and was "told" VDSL would be the best option for us (Fibre not around until 2019??). But since using it, the internet keeps dropping out and disconnecting. They have checked and I have been told it has disconnected over 101 times in 10 days. Im doing the running around to try and fix it with the "Guy over the phone"s advice but its no better.
We are also using an Apple Airport Extreme to improve the Wifi which it has in the past.
Is ADSL a more secure option?
Any advice or help please???

Spark - Can you use Netflix promo toward premium plan?
Looking at changing to Spark, but was wondering about the 6 months free Netflix. It says it is for the "Standard" $14.99 plan, but are you able to use the promo to instead get a $14.99 discount off the Premium ($18.99) plan? I.e. Spark pays $14.99 and you pay the remaining $4?
