WXC VOIP on Spark HG630B Modem
Have new spark VDSL2 connection working at my parents place. That part is great. Spark HG630b modem with ethernet cable into WXC MP264 router. They have a world exchange MP264 router that provides them with a VOIP phone connectivity. Their old connection was a local wireless dish on the roof connected to MP264 via WAN ethernet cable. Even though all front LED lights on MP264 are green, can't receive incoming calls and very slow to dial out if at all.So after talking to WXC support, he suggested I use the MP264 for the VDSL connection. Tried setting this up as per WXC support page and spark other modem settings. Rebooted. Powered off etc. Didn't seem to work and oddly enough, dsl light on the back wasn't lit up. Support wasn't that helpful / interested. He suggested I port the VOIP number to spark or switch VDSL2 to wxc. Also factory reset MP264 router as I forgot the password. Confirmed all working correctly with old wireless lan cable. (still active). Also note cable not left in when trying to setup VDSL connection. My questions are:Can the WXC MP264 router work with other ISP providers? i.e. Is it locked to WXC only adsl/vdsl/fibre?If not, can the spark HG630B router be configured to work with VOIP?On Advanced - NAT - I tried enabling SIP ALG which showed the default VOIP port. Didn't work.Is it a simple case of adding port forwarding for the VOIP port?ThanksRegardsScott

Mobile Data Usage Accuracy
Anyone ever had challenges in the accuracy of data usage as presented by the provider (Spark in my case) and what you believed to be used?I used to have a 9GB plan, occasionally came close to the limit but usually had some buffer at the end of each month. Recently moved to the unlimited (as it was cheaper than my previous plan), and in the space of 10 days I appeared to have used 18GB. You can't use it as a hotspot (or couldn't before they started offering add-ons, but i digress...) and so it is purely web and app usage on my phone; iPhone 7 and have WiFi Assist turned off.I'm usually on a wireless network, whether at home or at work, or even the free spark wifi. I would say the 15 mins into work, the 15 mins home from work and the odd time I am walking through Welly CBD is when I am purely using mobile data. As mentioned, WiFi assist is turned off so when on WiFi, mobile data is not kicking in.I reset my data usage on my phone, have been solely on WiFi, only avoiding airplane mode so i can receive texts and calls. My phone tells me that it has used just over 1MB of mobile data in the last 24 hours. My Spark app says I've used over 1GB.I have asked Spark to monitor usage, but they haven't come back to be yet, but I was wondering if anyone had experience of something similar? I am also wondering whether the recent IOS11 upgrade has got something else going on, so i am not assuming it is purely at Spark's end, but this detective work is going around in circles. Any help appreciated.

Automating Morepork
I go out and forget to arm Morepork so would like to automate it somehow. I thought maybe I could use ITTT on my cellphone so that once I leave the home the phone could detect that I was no longer at that GPS location and arm Morepork. However if my partner is still home that would not be helpful so I would need to check if either of us leaves residence then check if the other person is still at home if so Do nothing. If the second person leaves also and the other person is still away then set Morepork.Problems If I can get ITTT working correctly can I activate Morepork from a script?if not has anyone else got a suggestion how to solve problem. Yes I could train my memory not to forget things but unlikely to work

Guest Network on HG630 modem or using old HG659 on Spark VDSL2
Hi everyoneI have recently moved back to Spark VDSL2 after being with Vodafone. Vodafone provided me a HG659 with which I had a GuestNetwork set up, which was very useful for AirBnB guests. Now, after moving back to Spark in the last couple of weeks, they kindly supplied me with a HG630, but it doesn't appear to have a Guest network function. Is there a way to set this up with the HG630, such that I can give my guests Internet access without giving them access to my home network?Or, the alternative is that I could plug the Vodafone-supplied HG659 into the spark network. I have tried to do this and change username etc to the Spark settings, but I unable to get Internet access.Any help would be greatly appreciatedCheers,Rob

ASUS RT-AC87U with Fibre Max
Hi All,I have been having an ongoing sagas with my router speed - ref to https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumId=39&topicId=214701 Lately the download speed dropped to 220mbps. After speaking to Spark support, they sewnt their own router - their Huawei - and got speeds of 900+mbpsSo I conclude the problem rests with my router - I have also tried the leads that came with the huawei (WAN and LAN) and still no change in the speed of my Asus.I am planning to do a factory reset tomorrow. But wondered if anyone could shed any helpful suggestions why my router would slow down like this? Is this a symptom of a long slow death?Cheers as always,K

Outlook 2013 Outgoing Server Username & PW Problem
Hi.I am trying to get outgoing email working on Spark (incoming is working fine) but can't log on to the outgoing server. I have had a hunt around Spark's website but nothing fits my case.I have a website hosted elsewhere and so my email address is name@domain.co.nz, and since nothing has changed on the incoming server it still works.I have changed the outgoing server to send.xtra.co.nz, 465, SSl, leave a copy on the server, but Outlook still wants a Username & PW. Is this something that needs to be supplied by Spark? Thanks.GarryP

Bad speeds to Apple services
Has anyone else been having issues with speed on Apple services as of late? App Store downloads, developer portal and software updates all take an extremely long amount of time to complete, and this is an issue on both Spark Fiber and Spark 4G. I have not been able to test on any other providers. Currently trying to download an iOS firmware file and it's downloading at ~192kb/s. This has been going on for the past few weeks. Can confirm it is not a connection issue on my end as all my speed test results are absolutely fine (100mb/s over WiFi and ~50-60mb/s over cellular). I'm certain it isn't Apple as in the past their services are usually very fast. That leaves me thinking there's something wrong with the way Spark is dealing with Apple-bound traffic.Download in Safari: WiFi Speed test (Spark 100 fiber):Are there any other debugging steps I can take here to try and isolate the cause of this issue? Thanks!

Spark, no more copper Lines
Hi. I was told by Vodafone that as of Monday next week, there will be no new copper connections being provisioned by Spark, and as such, Vodafone would not be doing them either. Considering discontinuation of copper is quite a few years away, that seems a little strange. Esp given that Fibre isn't available everywhere (mine isn't here till end of 2019 at home). He was pushing me very hard to switch to hosted PBX ip solutions and I am wondering he was misunderstanding the situation? @jasonparis could you clarify please?

No 4G when all signs say there should be?
Currently on the West Coast at Lake Brunner and not I nor any of the other people at our house are able to get 4g reception. The bach we're staying at is near Iveagh Bay. Sparks coverage map suggests there should be decent 4g 700mhz reception and going by gis.geek.nz, the tower I roughly s 3km away. I wouldn't normally mind except for the fact that there's barely any 3g reception meaning you have to go out onto the deck if you want to send a text :/edit: I should at that I tested on multiple devices (iPhone 6s,7,galaxy note4 and xperia xa, none of which could get any signal in any area with supposedly 'good' reception.

Problem with latest Spark HG630b Home Gateway software
If anyone from Spark reads this there appears to be an issue with the latest HG630bV100R001C55B023_upgrade_main software for this router. At Xmas I received a new one with this version of software but was unable to change any configuration settings. I went on to the Spark site and downloaded the latest from there which was V100R001C55B021 and down graded the router. I could then change the settings.Last week I was having WiFi issues so I downloaded the now latest version HG630bV100R001C55B023 and installed it. Now I couldn't change any configuration again , not even turn off WiFi or default the router. Ended up down grading it again ..

Anyone experienced issues using Spark Broadband with a 2Degrees mobile?
Hi all,I'm struggling with an unusual problem on my home network. Often, when connected to WiFi, my iPhone 6 (iOS 11.0.3) will "pause" or "hang" for roughly a minute before connecting to or refreshing webpages or apps.If I switch off WiFi, the 4G (2degrees) service behaves normally. Using WiFi at other locations, the phone behaves normally. Other devices (Apple, Android, Microsoft and Linux based) on my home network behave normally.I thought it was just a problem with my device for a while until my mother-in-law visited and connected to my home network. She is also using a 2degrees mobile (Android) and experienced the same problems.Any thoughts? (It "feels" like a DNS timeout to me...) Details here:ISP: Spark Unlimited Fibre 20/100ONT: Chorus providedRouter: Spark supplied Huawei HG659b (Wireless transmitters disabled)AP: Unifi UAP-AC-ProDNS settings on the router use the Spark recommended servers (122.56.237.1 and 210.55.111.1) Thanks:-)

VDSL Speed Drop
For a little over a year I've had naked VDSL2 with Spark, and we were getting around 38 down, 13 up. Then after a year I started getting a lot of disconnections, sometimes several an hour (and sometimes only a few a day). First we tried a replacement modem from Spark, but that didn't seem to really fix it. So the next step was for Chorus to come check things out. They never looked on the property as far as I know, but they did drop our speed down a level at the exchange. Now we get around 24 down, 7 up.I still get the occasional disconnection (sometimes none a day, sometimes one or two), so I'd say it's generally better. And I understand that they dropped the level of speed as perhaps the copper couldn't handle it without problems. But then again, we went a year without any troubles at the higher speed.I wonder if there might be an issue elsewhere with our line and lowering the speed helped, but that if the actual fault was located / fixed, we could go back up to the higher speed. If anyone has more knowledge on this sort of thing (I'm positive many people will have more knowledge than me) it'd be interesting to hear your thoughts. Our current speed is certainly not bad, I'm much happier with it over our older ADSL2+, but it's the difference between being able to stream 4K and not. Thanks!
